The Piedmont Annex of the Calhoun County Commissioner of Licenses Office opened in 1967 as a convenience to the taxpayers living in the northern district of the county. At that time the office operated two days per week.
In 1975, Commissioner Alvin Gibbs began opening the office fulltime, and in 1995, Barry Robertson too over as Commissioner of Licenses.
Since that time he has made improvements at the Piedmont facility with the most recent being the opening of the new office in 2006. Hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The office is closed for lunch from 11:30 to 12:30 daily.
“Our office provides most of the same services provided by the Calhoun County Administration building in Anniston, with the exception of processing titles,” said Barry Robertson, Commissioner of Licenses.
The office is located at 109 North Center Avenue and moved to its present location in the same building in 2006 to provide more space and amenitites.
