The Alvin E. Gibbs Piedmont Annex of the Commissioner of Licenses Office will open again to the public on Monday, May 11, 2020, at 8:00 a. m. The office will open with social distancing guidelines in place. Extra staff will be on hand to help with answering questions you may have before you reach the counter.
As for safety precautions, only 5 customers will be allowed inside the office at a time. Customers will be guided to locations in the office to remain within six (6) feet of each other. Masks are strongly recommended, and they will be worn by staff, but they are not required by public.
As a reminder, registrants may still renewal Alabama Driver Licenses at the Piedmont office, but they will not be able to add the STAR to their ID. The Piedmont office does not do any title work on vehicle purchases. No property taxes are collected after the month of April in Piedmont. Property tax collections and questions should be directed to Karen Roper’s office.
If waiting in line is a problem, various services are available for online registration and renewal. Residents can find information regarding motor vehicle renewals / registrations, boats, business licenses, driver’s licenses and manufactured homes at www.calhouncountyal.org or by calling 256-241-2900.
The Commissioner of Licenses, Barry E. Robertson, would like to thank you for your continued patience during these time. Please continue to remain safe and healthy.
